We invite you to the last School Field Seminar before the holidays, where we will welcome back to Slovenia after two decades Prof. Dr. Michael W. Apple (University of Wisconsin, USA), one of the most prominent and well-established contemporary education researchers in the world. The title of his public lecture – “Power, policy, and the realities of curriculum and teaching” – suggests that we will encounter all the essential elements that characterize his work as a researcher and social activist.
He will place contemporary changes in teaching on the one hand and teacher education on the other in the context of profound changes in educational policies, as reflected in neoliberal, neoconservative, authoritarian-populist and managerial “reforms”, which today have a great impact on the international level. As usual, the lecture will be followed by an open discussion, in which you will be able to ask our guest directly about everything that you have not had the opportunity to ask “live” before. The seminar is organized in cooperation with the Slovenian Association of Educational Researchers – SLODRE.
I would like to invite you to join us on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in room 048 at the Faculty of Education, University of Ljubljana, Kardeljeva pl. 16, Ljubljana.
To warm up, we have prepared a guest biography and a short selection from his work on our website.
